Born in the United States, Steve Jobs did not only revolutionize the country he was born but the whole world. Many have witnessed his ways in being a visionary and an innovator. Ever since he was a kid, his inclinations already made him different. Who would have thought that all those decisions will lead to the creation of one of the largest tech companies in the world – Apple. Just like every one of us, Steve Jobs encountered various setbacks and difficulties all throughout his life. One of which is being fired from his own company. But despite that, he this didn’t stop him from going back and accepting the consequences from his misgivings. Many may agree that Jobs had a well-lived time being that changed the lives of different people not only in terms of technological advancements but also life lessons he has passed on.
We may learn a thing or two from Steve Jobs. One of which is that he loved what he did. He believed how each life lesson flourished the creativity in each individual. This has especially been true when he looked back to the time when he had taken up calligraphy classes. During that moment, he didn’t realize how this class could make a huge impact on the creation of fonts while creating his company. In everything he did and have experienced, he recognized his true calling which was found in Apple. For a lot of us, it might be a maze to find what we want to do for the rest of our lives. In that process, it might be helpful to keep in find that finding that passion may not mean that all aspects will be the way we want it to be. There will still be problems every now and then. It’s a matter of choosing that path and reminding oneself of why you were there in the first place. Answering that ‘why’ at the beginning may help one to keep going. The purpose matters more than why you do it.
Doing everything all by yourself may sound fulfilling. There may be some truth in it, but if one plans to succeed on a bigger scale, the person should acknowledge the help of other individuals. The quote “No man is an island” is fitting for this scenario. It’s important to have a team with the same vision as you do as this will keep the company going in the long run. There may be some rough patches, but as long as everyone has the same goal, things will turn out better. It’s also a way to learn how to manage people. One of the traits of a great leader is being able to delegate tasks. Some task may be for some people while another task might be fitting for another. Each and everyone has their own specialization. Steve Jobs invested in people and allowed them to succeed and fail on their own. Through this, individuals are not only wired to the instructions of their leader; instead, this made them think creatively which led to more great ideas.
One of the things that Steve Jobs wants us to remember is our health. It’s one of the most valuable lessons he may be imparting. More often, we get caught with the hustle and bustle of our daily routine. We get so enticed with what we do that we stay up in the wee hours of the night for several days in a week. This is a sign of persistence, but we should also keep in mind that our health should always come first. In 2003, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Instead of considering his doctor’s advice to undergo surgery and other safety measures, he insisted with self-medicating and healing. If only he had followed the doctor’s advice earlier, he might have lived longer. However, such things have already happened and the best way we could do is to learn from his mistakes.
It’s undeniably true how technology has changed throughout the years. From desktop computers, there are now laptops which are also known as notebooks that are very compact to bring. From just a staple font, we are now offered various fonts to choose from and to expand our creativity. From the television, we may now view current events and videos using our phones and internet. One of which is the recent news regarding the Nanking Massacre. The rise of technology has its good and bad effects, but one fact will remain true. Steve Job revolutionize the tech industry and we have him to thank for that.
